It’s been two years since I come to Changzhou. I do do miss my lovely hometown.
My hometown is Yongzhou .It lies in the south of Hunan province. Because the Xiangjiang(） River and the Xiaoshui（） River assemble here; it has another name: Xiaoxiang（）, a very beautiful name in Chinese, and that’s why my pet name is Xiao Xiangzi(）.
Yongzhou has a long history. It became famous for Liu Zongyuan who was one of the most famous litterateurs of Tang Dynasty. He had been Yongzhou for ten years. He composed lots of well-known articles such as “A Snake Catcher”, “The Eight Views of Yongzhou”, ect. Some of his articles were collected as set text of middle school in China. Hunan Technology College and Yongzhou’s Ministry of Education founded “The Academy of Liu Zongyuan” in 2001. The researchers in the academy have published four literatures and over one hundred academic papers.
Yongzhou is a beautiful city. The Jiuyi Mountain is a national forest park. It is famous for special scenery, unique caves, precious heritage, and affecting legend. Shun, the third emperor in ancient China, died in Yongzhou and was buried in Jiuyi Mountain. Two of his concubines cried for his death. Their tears fallen on the bamboos and became many beautiful spots. These bamboos are called “Xiangfei bamboo”, a poetry name. In ancient China, every emperor would come to Jiouyi Mountain to honor Shun when they passed through Yongzhou.
Yongzhou’s special food is bacon, which is a dish of traditional food. It is essential during holidays in Yongzhou. When the Spring Festival is around the corner, every family prepare to make bacon. Bacon has become one of the most widely loved foods in Yongzhou.
The transportation of Yongzhou is convent because it lies on the border of Guangxi province and Guangdong province. It is the main passage to the South of China such as Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, ect. There are several highways and two railways pass by and the airport from which you can fly to Changsha and some other cities.
